Former champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) were the biggest winners as the quarter-finals of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition got underway with eight games.

Manchester High and Dinthill Technical also had big 4-0 wins against McGrath and Christiana respectively while Mannings School scored three against Vere Technical.

Michael German scored a brace to lead STETHS in a big 6-1 win over St Thomas Technical at York Oval and takes the lead in Group 3. Rohan Brown, Ajay Smith, Davin Wright, and Dantae Campbell also scored for STETHS.

Manchester High leads Group 4 on goal-difference after their 4-0 win over McGrath High at Drax Hall as Raheem Walters scored two goals and Shaquille Campbell and Denzil Lee got the others.

Dinthill Technical also leads Group 1 with a 4-0 win over Christiana High as Manning’s School led 3-0 over Vere Technical before the former winners rallied with two goals but fell short of at least earning a draw.

At the STETHS Sports Complex, defending champions Clarendon College beat Cornwall College 2-1 with goals from Timar Dunn and Kahein Dixon early in the game.

An own goal just before the halftime break brought Cornwall College back in the game as Clarendon led 2-1 at halftime and despite the St James school creating some good chances in the second half fell short.

Garvey Maceo High extended their perfect winning run to eight games as goals from Gregory Cousins and Cleo Clarke were enough to beat 10 men Frome Technical 2-0.

Frome Tech went down to 10 men late in the first half after goalkeeper Dennis James was sent off for a foul.

Edwin Allen High took down the high-flying William Knibb Memorial 2-0 at Green Pond in St James as Ackeem Mullings in the first half and Jaheim Harris in the second half slowed the Trelawny school.

Mannings School raced to a 3-0 lead against Vere Technical in their Group B game at Manchester High but had to hold on for a slim 3-2 win but are the sole leaders of Group 2 after Munro College and Happy Grove played out a 1-1 draw at York Oval.
