Two former Cornwall College footballers/track and field athletes, O’Brien Bowen and Garfield Campbell, left the island in the first days of 2025 to attend schools in the USA.

Bowen, who started the last three seasons on the daCosta Cup team and wore the captain’s armband, will attend Umpqua College in Roseburg, Oregon, on a track and field scholarship.

Bowen was a finalist in both the long and triple jumps at the ISSA Boys Champs in March, earlier the was the silver medallist in both events at the COCAA Western Champs and was third in the triple jump at the Penn Relays.

Campbell, who graduated from Cornwall College in June, was a member of the daCosta Cup team in the 2023 season and was also a part of the track and field team and competed in the relays at the ISSA Champs and the Penn Relays.

He will start attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in January 2025, where he will pursue a degree in nursing. He is also expected to represent the Bulldogs in soccer (football).
