Cornwall College lifting the 2018 Champions Cup

Cornwall College won a historic first ISSA Champions Cup all-island title on Saturday, beating Jamaica College 1-0 in the final played at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, the first time the final was played outside of Kingston.

Shavon McDonald's goal in the 19th minute lifted Cornwall College into the list of teams to have won the title, the first school outside of Kingston to achieve the feat.

It was Cornwall College's second trip to the final, losing in 2016 and the third straight by a daCosta Cup school after St Elizabeth Technical were also beaten last year.

Jamaica College were the first winners in 2014, followed by St George's College, Wolmer's Boys and Kingston College last year.

In an entertaining final, that saw both teams playing attacking football and forcing both goalkeepers to make good saves.

Cornwall College's goalkeeper Peter Sinclair made a series of brilliant saves, two in the last five minutes to preserve the win for Cornwall College.

McDonald scored the winner when he muscled his way around Jamaica College's Okeefe Cunningham on the left channel just inside the 18 yards box and shot a left-footer past goalkeeper Khari Williams into the far corner.

Jamaica College's Calwayne Allen hit the Cornwall College woodwork three times in the game, rattling the crossbar in the first half with a vicious shot that beat Sinclair.
