Clarendon College 2018 Olivier Shield Champions

Clarendon College broke the dominance of the Corporate Area schools on the Olivier Shield, the traditional symbol of all-island schoolboys' football supremacy after beating Manning Cup champions Kingston College 1-0 in the final played at the national stadium on Saturday.

Clarendon College is the first daCosta Cup team to win the title outright since 2004 when Glenmuir won it and 2006 when Glenmuir High shared it with Bridgeport High.

It was their fourth hold on the Olivier Shield after back to back wins in 1977 and 1978, 40 years ago.

The daCosta Cup champions were the only school this year to win two titles with four other schools got one each.

The lone goal in the game came from substitute Andre Nicholson, in the 87th minute beating the Kingston College goalkeeper with a well-struck shot as the match appeared heading to penalty kicks.

Nicholson replaced Ricardo McIntosh earlier as the Clarendon College coaching staff made the last push to avoid penalties.

Kingston College enjoyed the better of the first half and came close to take the lead, but Trevon Reid hit the top right-hand corner of the goal with a free kick.
