The race for places in the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition is approaching boiling point after three schools Manning’s School, Dinthill Technical, and Edwin Allen all scored impressive wins today to improve their chances.

Former champions Dinthill Technical beat William Knibb Memorial 3-0 to end the Trelawny schools’ DaCosta Cup title hopes, Manning’s School scored a big 6-0 win over Happy Grove and Edwin Allen High were easy 4-0 winners over Christiana High.

All three were winning back-to-back games to improve to six points but while Manning’s School leads Group 2, Dinthill Technical and Edwin Allen are tied on points in Group 1 and separated by a single goal in the tiebreaker.

Dinthill Technical the losing finalist in 2019 extended their streak of ‘clean sheets’ to eight games as they have not allowed a goal in all eight games played all season.

Meanwhile, Munro College put themselves in place for a runner-up spot in Zone 2 after outscoring Vere Technical 4-3 in their game.

Gary Mills scored a hat trick to lead Dinthill Technical over William Knibb who were losing back-to-back games and also ended the game with 10 players.

Dinthill Technical led 1-0 at halftime thanks to Mills’ 17th-minute goal and added two more in the second half, netting in the 59th and 66th minutes as William Knibb’s Tajoy Cooper was sent off in the 64th minute.

Edwin Allen kept on course for their first title with Richard Henry scoring twice while Jaheim Thomas and Akeem Mullings also scored against Christiana High who were conceding eight goals in their two games after conceding only three in their six first-round games.

Christiana High finished the game with 10 players after Devon Williams was sent off in the 64th minute.

Mannings went on a scoring spree at Drax Hall as Jhamaleek Porter scored two goals while Abeena Wallace, Javin Williams, Jahmaro Hall, and Rushawn Graham all scored on each as they scored their widest margin of a win this season.

Munro College moved into second place in Group 2 on four points after edging Vere Technical with Ceon Falconer scoring twice and Xarier Bruce and Gevonie Foster also getting on the score sheet.
