All four games in the opening round of the ISSA DaCosta Cup quarterfinals ended in 1-0 scorelines on Wednesday.

Edwin Allen scored the first upset of the round after beating Dinthill Technical at Drax Hall; Clarendon College got by Central High at Foga Road; Mannings School beat William Knibb Memorial at Llandilo while Manchester High held off Frome Technical at Brooks Park.

The top two teams from either of the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals as well as the All-Island Knock out while the next two will play in the quarterfinals of the Ben Francis KO.

Defender Kimolar Fearon continued his hot streak at the offensive end of the field after he headed home the winner for Edwin Allen who avenged their loss to Dinthill Technical at the same stage and venue last year.

Fearon was scoring in his third straight game as Dinthill slumped to their second loss in the last four games.

Malachi Douglas’ goal separated Clarendon College and Central High who were losing for the first time in five games.

William Knibb appeared to be running out of steam, losing back-to-back games as Devonte Rodney scored the winner in the 51st minute.

William Knibb were flying high and was unbeaten in their first 12 games without conceding a goal but has allowed four in their last two outings.

Manchester High is tied with Mannings School thanks to Yarek Carnegie’s goal against Frome Technical who were also coming off a big loss to Clarendon College on Saturday.
