Cornwall College and St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), the teams with the most wins in the ISSA DaCosta Cup Knock-out competition were dumped out of the competition in the first round of the Ben Francis Cup knock-out played on Thursday.

Seven-time champions Cornwall College went down to 2007 champions Garvey Maceo High 3-1 at Garvey Maceo while STETHS who won six straight titles were beaten 2-1 by York Castle High at Drax Hall.

Glenmuir High who has won the title six times eliminated Paul Bogle High 2-0 at York Oval and four times champions Rusea’s High hammered Christiana High 5-1.

Meanwhile, the winners advanced to the quarterfinals where they will meet the four teams that were eliminated from the DaCosta Cup at the quarterfinals.

Cleo Clarke scored a brace to lead Garvey Maceo High over Cornwall College while Nevaughn Myrie got the other in their 3-1 win at Gravey Maceo.

Orane Watson and David Reid scored for Glenmuir High in their win over Paul Bogle High who finished the game with eight players after three were red-carded in the second half.

Shamour Smith scored two goals for Rusea’s High in their big 5-1 win as Terome Morgan, Deonjay Brown and Chadwyck Campbell also scored.
