Ruseas' and Garvey first to four
Champions Rusea's High and former winners Garvey Maceo High are the first schools to win their fourth straight game in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition on Wednesday, scoring six goals against Merlene Ottey High and Cross Keys respectively.
Six teams went into the day with a chance of winning a fourth straight, but St Elizabeth Technical and Morant Bay dropped points for the first time while the games involving Cornwall College and Frome Technical were not played due to muddy fields.
Chan Moodie scored twice for Rusea's High as they brushed aside Merlene Ottey High 6-0 in their Zone B game played at Pondside to race to 12 points.
Deandre Cunningham also scored twice to lead Garvey Maceo High to a 6-1 win over Cross Keys High and widened their lead in Zone M after joint second placed teams Glenmuir High and Denbigh ended in a 0-0 scoreline.
Garvey Maceo's 12 points, give them a five points lead over Denbigh who had scored 11 goals in their previous two games and Glenmuir High who have earned just a point from their last two games.
Clarendon College joined idle Lennon High on nine points at the top of Zone H after a 5-1 in over Thompson Town, their third straight win as Roderick Granville scored twice.
STETHS escaped with a draw against neighbours Lacovia in their Zone E game as they gave up a 1-0 lead and had to settle for a draw.
Lacovia earned two late penalties and after scoring the first to level the scores saw the second shot saved.
Maggotty High moved to within a point of STETHS after edging winless Munro College 1-0 while Newell High blanked newcomers Sydney Pagon 4-0.
Morant Bay High was held goal-less by Seaforth in Zone O but still held on to a three points leads, on 10 points, followed by Paul Bogle High on seven points having played a game less.
