Mannings player under intense pressure from two Anchovy teammastes

McGrath High created more school history on Saturday as they booked their spot in the first round of the lucrative ISSA Champion Cup along with Clarendon College and Dinthill Technical after all three won back to back games in the quarter-finals of the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup football competition.

McGrath High edged BB Coke High 1-0 in their Group 4 game to take over the lead on six points as Happy Grove bushwhacked St Elizabeth Technical 3-1 to leave the former champions at the bottom of the tables on one point from two games.

Clarendon College, the defending daCosta Cup champions went on a rampage against Cedric Titus, hammering them 8-0 to improve to six points on Group One.

Roderick Granville and Richard King both grabbed braces for Clarendon College as Omar Reid, Kaheim Rose, Sheldon Smart, and Jaland Larmond all got one goal each as the champions had their biggest win of the season.

Dinthill Technical continued to make full use of their second chance as beat Petersfield High 2-0 thanks to a brace from Karim Bryan and they have now won their last five games without giving up a goal.

Group 2 is a three-team race after a late penalty from Dane Golding gave Manchester High a win over Cornwall College to take over the lead with four points as the losers slipped to third on goal- difference behind Garvey Maceo High who beat Maggotty High 2-0.

Cornwall College ended the game with 10 players after Solano Birch was sent off midway the second half after getting his second yellow card of the game.

Marvin Williams and Kimani Sylvera scored for Garvey Maceo in their victory.

At the Collin Miller Sports Complex in Lucea, second-half substitute Abijah Wallace scored twice as Mannings School came back from two goals down to earn an exciting 2-2 draw against Anchovy High.

Renaldo Grant and Sansay Hutchinson had given Anchovy the lead and they looked set to win back to back games until Wallace scored from two dead ball situations.

Frome Technical were held scoreless by Pt Antonio High in their Group Three game they were expected to win after beating Petersfield High 5-0 on Wednesday.
