B.B. Coke into Ben Francis KO Final
BB Coke’s brilliant season continued as they came from a goal down to beat Manchester High 2-1 at Juici Field and advance to next Thursday's final of the ISSA Ben Francis Knock-out competition.
It was the first final at this level for the school who is one of the emerging schools this year, joining the likes of McGrath High who were losing semi-finalists in the DaCosta Cup competition.
It was also the second time they were beating Manchester High this season after coming from two goals down to beat them 4-2 in a first-round return leg game.
The Junction, St Elizabeth based school will have to wait to know who their opponents will be after the second semi-final between former champions Garvey Maceo High and St Elizabeth Technical was called off in the first half due to heavy rains and lightning.
Garvey Maceo led 1-0 at the time of the stoppage with Marvin Williams scoring in the first minute of the game.
A contentious penalty late in the game decided the outcome of the first game after the Manchester High goalkeeper Kevin Dixon and BB Coke’s Jason Dyer collided in the box as both went after a ball.
Dixon suffered a cut to his forehead and had to be substituted as Shamar Robinson scored the decisive goal from the spot.
Dane Golding had given Manchester High the lead in the 28th minute thanks to an error by the BB Coke goalkeeper and led 1-0 at the half time break before Kymani Case equalized in the 50th minute with a delightful free-kick that sailed over the head of Dixon and under the cross bar in the 50th minute.
