Clarendon College and Manchester High stay perfect

Defending champions Clarendon College and Manchester High maintained their perfect win records on Saturday after starting the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Round of 16 with wins over Mile Gully High and first time qualifiers Tacky High respectively.

Four schools started the round with perfect records but Dinthill Technical were held 0-0 by McGrath High while Happy Grove were beaten 4-2 by BB Coke High after coming from behind to lead 2-1 at half time.

Clarendon College are the leaders in Group 1 on goal-difference after beating a stubborn Mile Gully High 2-0 at Glenmuir High as they win their 11^th consecutive game of the season.

Manchester High gave Tacky High a warm welcome to the Round of 16, beating them 4-1in Group 2 and took their perfect run to 13 games.

After beating McGrath High twice in the first round, Dinthill Tech were held 0-0 at home.

Happy Grove High ended their perfect run thanks to an 89^th minute goal from Devonte Blake who rescued all the points for BB Coke High who had opened the scoring through Jahmaul Wright in the 10^th minute.

Happy Grove rallied to lead 2-1 with goals from Oshane Chambers in the 25^th minute and Shevon Miller in the 37^th minute but Zorek Grant who converted a 56^th minute penalty levelled the scored before Blake’s heroics.

St Elizabeth Technical edged 10-man Cornwall College 3-2 at Jarrett Park in a Group 1 game.

After being forced to substitute top scorer Lincoln Cox because of an ankle injury in the 8^th minute and then losing central defender Matthew Wilson to a second yellow card in the 42^nd minute, Cornwall College came from behind rallied twice to tie up the scores at 2-2.

A goal late in the game with Cornwall scrambling to get enough players back in defense, from Donte Campbell saw STETHS take all three points.

STETHS led from the 14^th minute before Raheem Lee equalized for Cornwall College in the 53^rd minute, Antwone Smith restored STETHS’ lead in the 77^th minute, Cornwall rallied through Dane Buckley in the 80^th minute but Campbell headed home from a corner in the 88^th minute to decide the points.

Demar Williams’ 20^th minute goal was good enough for Frome Technical to beat Port Antonio High 1-0 at Carder Park, while Christiana High outscored William Knibb Memorial 3-2.
