Many time champions Cornwall College are on the verge of qualifying for the Round of 32 in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition after beating Herbert Morrison Technical High 4-1 in their Zone A return round game played at Herbert Morrison and ran their record to seven straight wins.

Cornwall College became the third team in the competition to win seven straight games after Belair High and Glenmuir High and improved to 21 points, nine more than Maldon High and Green Pond High, both tied on 12 points.

After opening his account on Tuesday, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory against Maldon High, Kayvon Donaldson followed up with a double on Thursday, scoring in the 44th and 57th minutes.

Nickane Brown gave Cornwall College the lead in the seventh minute and Deshaun Talbert got the fourth goal, from the penalty spot in time added in the second half.

Jevar Beckford scored Herbert Morrison’s consolation in the 85th minute.

Maldon High and Green Pond High stayed locked in a close race for the second qualifying spot after wins over Irwin High and St James High respectively.

Both are tied on 12 points with Maldon High ahead on goal-difference after they edged Irwin High 1-0 while Green Pond who beat St James High 2-0.

Discovery Bay high got their second win of the season, edging Muschett High 2-1 in Zone D while Dinthill Technical joined McGrath High on 10 points at the top of Zone J after a 4-0 win over Tacius Golding High.
