The first three Round of 16 places in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition were taken on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 as Glenmuir High, Frome Technical and Happy Grove scored impressive wins in their second round games.

Nine schools had gone into the round with a chance of earning a third round spot on the first time of asking but the others must now wait until next week when they final set of second round games are scheduled to get another chance.

Title favourites and last year’s beaten finalists Glenmuir High beat Titchfield High 2-0 at Carder Park with goals from Orel Miller and Orane Watson and improved to six point at the top of Group 7.

It was back to back 2-0 wins for Glenmuir after they had beaten two time defending champions Clarendon College 2-0 on Thursday.

Frome Technical were also 2-0 winners, beating Black River High at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex as Stevaughn Spence scored in the first half and Jamaro Grant added a second in the second half.

Happy Grove continued their high scoring ways with a 4-3 win over Denbigh High at Carder Park in Group 5 after they had edged Holmwood 3-2 a few days earlier.

Shevone Miller scored a hat-trick to lead Happy Grove High edged Denbigh High 4-3, scoring seven goals in their two games.
