Munro College’s daCosta Cup hopes took a massive hit on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, after they were beaten 3-0 by Garvey Maceo High in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup quarter-final Group B game played at Glenmuir High in May Pen.

After being held 1-1 by Ocho Rios in their first-round game, Munro College is at the foot of the group on one point as Garvey Maceo took over the lead with four points.

It was a big comeback for Garvey Maceo, who gave up a 2-0 lead against Central High on Saturday and had to settle for a draw. Rushawn Whyte opened the scoring in the 74th minute. Omarian O’Brian doubled the lead in the 78th minute, and Rakeesh Jones added a third goal in the added time.

Meanwhile, St Elizabeth Technical improved its chances of reaching the semi-finals after a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Frome Technical at Llandilo Community Centre.

Justin McPherson, Jordan Blake, and Kaieem Lewis scored for STETHS, which improved to four points and second place behind semi-final qualifiers Glenmuir High.

Frome Technical suffered back-to-back losses. They are now eliminated from daCosta Cup contention and will play in the quarter-finals of the Ben Francis Cup.

Frome led both games, losing 4-3 to Glenmuir on Saturday after leading 3-1 at halftime and scoring first on Wednesday.

In the other game played on Wednesday, Ocho Rios came from a goal down to earn a draw against Central High at Wembley Centre of Excellence.
