Defending champions Glenmuir High will face fellow daCosta Cup team Ocho Rios High in one ISSA/Wata Champions Cup semi-final on Wednesday. At the same time, two-time winners Jamaica College and Hydel High will meet in the other.

The semi-final games were decided on Saturday after Glenmuir High edged Kingston College 2-1 in one quarter-final game after Hydel High had come from a goal down to beat Garvey Maceo High 3-2 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The other semi-finalists, Ocho Rios High and Jamaica College, had booked their places a day earlier, beating St Catherine High and McGrath High by 2-0, respectively.

In a game that lived up to expectations and was played in driving rain, a stoppage-time goal from substitute Nyron Allen gave Glenmuir High a hard-fought win over Kingston College in an evenly matched contest.

Glenmuir took the lead just before half-time when Orane Watson slotted home a corner kick in the 42nd minute. Still, Kingston College got a deserved equalizer in the 62nd minute when Demario Dailey’s shot from about 25 yards found the far right corner of the Glenmuir High goal.

A combination of two second-half substitutes was the deciding factor a minute into stoppage when Ricardo Binns’ cross from the left side found Nyron Allen at the back post, and he made no mistake.

On the first day, Hydel High advanced to back-to-back semi-finals, beating Garvey Maceo for the second year in a high-scoring game after beating them 4-2 last year.

Garvey Maceo took the lead in the 12th minute when Omarian O’Brian ran almost the entire length of the Hydel High half down the left wing, cut into the 18-yard box, and powered a shot past goalkeeper Idrian Robinson.

Dontae Brooks responded for Hydel when he scored from close range in the 20th minute and then took the lead in the 58th minute when D’Sean Henry powered home from the edge of the six-yard box.

Garvey Maceo responded quickly when Delano Thompson finished off a good team move, beating goalkeeper Robinson from about four yards out.

However, Hydel High had the final say when Keyanni Jackson scored the winner in the 75th minute.
