WOLMER'S Boys registered the biggest win in the ISSA/Lime Manning Cup competition with a 6-0 whipping of Kingston Technical in Group C yesterday to remind the rest of the schools that they will be a force to be reckoned with.
The 10-time champions got off to a flying start as Kamario Osbourne netted in the third minute and later grabbed a second in the 31st minute, setting the stage for Wolmer's Boys' massive win.
Captain and former National Under-17 player Kemo Wallace nodded home from a corner kick in the 33rd minute with further goals coming from Khori Bennett, 45th, Demar Rose, 62nd, and substitute Joel Fagan with basically the last kick of the game in the 90th minute.
The Ludlow Bernard-coached Wolmer's Boys jumped to the top of the group ahead of Denham Town, who clipped St Catherine High, 2-1, and Papine High, who edged Clan Carthy 1-0.
"We went all out in the first half, and we got the goals, and I think the team relaxed in the second half, but it was a good performance. But I need to get the intensity going a little bit longer, and as the season goes on I expect that will happen," said Bernard.
"We never really knew anything about the KT team, but I know the quality that we have and I expected it to be showcased," he added.
KT's coach, Clive Anderson, was a dejected man, left sitting on the team's bench trying to come to grips with his team's poor performance.
"It was a very clumsy performance from the goalkeeper. Simple and basic mistakes and you don't make mistakes like those and expect to win games," said Anderson.
"We will rebound because we have the capability, it is just to get things together," he added.
Meanwhile, in Group D, Charlie Smith defeated Oberlin High 3-1 and assumed early leadership of the group ahead of Vauxhall High, who blanked Donald Quarrie 2-0. Defending champions St George's College and Camperdown High are on one point each following their 2-2 draw last Saturday.
In Group F, the game between Kingston College and Eltham High was not played because the referees did not turn up enabling Spanish Town to jump to the top of the group following their 3-0 demolition of Penwood High.
