The ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup quarter-finals draw to a close on Saturday, October 28th, with teams from both zones having it all to play for as they seek semi-final berth in this year’s competition.
Group G consists of Holy Trinity, St. Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), St. Catherine High School and St. George’s College (STGC). Teams have two points each and a zero goal difference having scored one and conceded one. The showdown begins at 3 PM with STATHS hosting St. George’s College at Stadium East and St. Catherine High will play host to Holy Trinity at the Spanish Town Prison Oval respectively.
Should both games end in a draw, a playoff date has been set for November 14th, where St. George’s College would go up against Holy Trinity and St. Catherine High versus STATHS.
NB. The reason for the fixture is that St. Catherine High and St. George’s College came from the same preliminary group.
If there should be a draw in both encounters the fixture that was a high scoring draw will see the teams from the higher scoring draw advance to the semi-final.
If there should be a winner in one game and the other fixture is drawn then the winner will advance as the group winner. The teams from the drawn game will then enter a play-off on November 14th, which will see penalties determine the winner for the second qualification spot to advance.
Should there be two identical winning results in the group, the higher seeded team will advance as the group winner. If the results of both games are different then goal difference will decide the group winner with goals scored being the next option to decide the winner.
Kingston College needing only a point to secure semi-final qualification will battle defending champions Jamaica College at Stadium East football field at 5 PM. The other game from the group will see Calabar High go up against Bridgeport High at the Spanish Town Prison Oval at 1 PM. The boy’s from Red Hills Road will need to win by a five-goal margin in hopes of Jamaica College victory against Kingston College for them to have any hope of advancing to the semi-final.
The Manning Cup semifinal is set for November 21st and 22nd respectively.
