Holders Edwin Allen High, two former winners Glenmuir High and Rusea’s High as well as first timers York Castle High all qualified for the semi-finals of the ISSA Ben Francis Knock-out after scoring wins in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Edwin Allen beat outgoing daCosta Cup champions Garvey Maceo High; Glenmuir High beat Frome Technical; York Castle High knocked out Dinthill Technical and Rusea’s High ended William Knibb Memorial’s season.
The semi-finals are set for STETHS on Wednesday, November 30 with Edwin Allen playing Rusea’s High in the first game and Glenmuir meeting York Castle in the second for a place in the final three days later.
Edwin Allen High extended the defence of the KO title after Tajae Thomas and Patrick Harrison scored in their game against Garvey Maceo on Friday.
They had rebounded from losing to Central High in the quarterfinals of the daCosta Cup while Garvey Maceo had beaten Cornwall College 3-1.
Glenmuir High crushed Frome Technical 4-0 in the May Pen with Tajaun Cummings scoring two goals and Kyle Gordon and Deandre Johnson getting the others.
York Castle High are into the Ben Francis KO semis for the first time after beating Dinthill Technical 5-4 on penalties after they ended 2-2 in regulation at Mt Pleasant Football Academy in St Ann.
Rusea’s High will play at least one more game as they put William Knibb Memorial out of their miseries winning 3-1 in the shootout spot after they played out a 0-0 draw in regulation time.
