Former Manning Cup champion Bridgeport High put on a football clinic as they defeated their Portmore rivals, Ascot High, 4-0.
Stephen-Jon Beckford opened the scoring with a beautiful free kick in the 20th minute, as Bridgeport’s constant pressure paid off. They doubled their lead in the 31st minute with a powerful header from Jahnald Wilks. The first half ended 2-0.
Ascot High came out guns blazing in an attempt to find a way back into the match, but they failed to convert their chances. Bridgeport, however, added salt to the wound in the 88th minute when they extended their lead to 3-0. Kimani Smith came off the bench to sweep home from close range, sealing the deal for Bridgeport High with their fourth goal of the match in the 92nd minute.
In Zone D action, STATHS edged Vauxhall High 1-0, and Calabar High also defeated Haile Selassie High by a similar margin. Other results from the day included Eltham High hammering Ardenne High 6-0, St. George’s College scoring five against Papine High, Dunoon Technical winning 2-1 against Clan Carthy, and Jamaica College overwhelming Pembroke Hall 18-0.
