Cornwall College waltzed into the second round of the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup football competition on Wednesday after cruising past Maldon High 3-0 in their Zone A return round game played in Maldon.
Solano Birch one of the leading players from last season’s squad that won the Champions Cup and were beaten finalists in the daCosta Cup finally found his scoring boots, hitting the net twice as first year player Kamali Powell scored his sixth of the season.
The win saw Cornwall College retake the leadership of Zone A on goal-difference over Anchovy High with both schools tied on 20 points each but Cornwall College has the edge on a superior goal-difference.
Cornwall College were the 18 th school to book their passage to the second round and joins Anchovy High from Zone A, Frome Technical and Rusea’s High from Zone B, Mannings School from Zone D, St Elizabeth Technical from Zone E, Manchester High and BB Coke from Zone F, Clarendon College and Lennon High from Zone H, Annotto Bay High from Zone J, McGrath High and Dinthill Technical from Zone K, Port Antonio High and Happy Grove from Zone L, Garvey Maceo High and Denbigh High from Zone M and Seaforth High from Zone O.
