Central High made history after they defied the odds to qualify for their first-ever ISSA daCosta Cup semi-finals after beating Edwin Allen High in their quarterfinal game played at Foga Road High on Tuesday.
Central High beat Edwin Allen High 2-0 and crashed the party after Clarendon College extended the competition’s only unbeaten run with a 4-0 battering of Dinthill Technical as both losers exited the competition at the quarterfinal stages.
In their upset win, Shane Gordon and Nathaniel Howe scored historical goals for Central High.
Clarendon topped Group A with 9 points while Central edged Dinthill and Edwin Allen on goal-difference after all three teams ended on three points.
In Group B which was settled from Saturday, Manchester High ended Manning’s unbeaten run, winning 2-1 to top the group with nine points, three more than Manning’s while Frome Technical and William Knibb drew their game 0-0 for their first point of the round.
In the semi-finals set for November 23rd at St Elizabeth Technical, Clarendon College will meet Manning’s School in one game while Manchester High will meet Central High for the second time this season.
Malachi Douglass scored two penalties, in the 32nd and 43rd minutes to give Clarendon College a 2-0 lead over Dinthill Technical at halftime and Kaheim Dixon added a third from the spot in the 59th minute while Marques Reid added a fourth in the 74th minute.
In the first game of the double Manchester High joined Clarendon College in winning all three games in the quarterfinals as goals from Michael Soares and Yareke Carnegie gave them the edge over Manning’s School who got a goal from Kajaye Williams.
