Clarendon College and Cornwall College will battle each other for the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup title final for the first time since 1991 after registering contrasting wins over Dinthill Technical and Frome Technical respectively in Wednesday’s semi-finals at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
Nique Daley scored twice for Clarendon College in the second half on their way to another big win over 10-man Dinthill Technical in a daCosta Cup semi-final, winning 4-0 in the first game to extend their win streak to 14 straight in the daCosta Cup.
Cornwall College were held scoreless for the first time this season but managed to beat 10-man Frome Technical 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw.
Dinthill Technical got off to a better start but failed to make use of their superiority and allowed back Clarendon into the game in the second half and the seven-time champions took the second chance with both hands.
Daley scored in the 50th and 78th minutes and Ricardo McIntosh scored in the 62nd and Javell Ellis in the 85th to complete the rout.
Akeem Mullings was sent off in the 74th minute when he pulled back Lamar Walker.
Frome took advantage of a sluggish looking Cornwall College and should have capitalised but failed and the 12-time champions should have stolen it on the stroke of full time, but Matthew Thorpe missed from about two yards after Aiden Jokomba’s sublime square from the right side fell nicely for him to put it into the empty goal.
Just before the end of regulation time, Clifton Suban was sent off when he pulled Jokomba down on the edge of the box.
In the shootout, Cornwall was perfect from the spot with Shavon McDonald, Calvin Gardner, Denyu Ricketts and Thorpe all scoring while Giovanni Mittoo and Jevoy Harvey scored for Frome.
Cornwall College’s goalkeeper Peter Sinclair saved Alwayne Hill’s kick while Keith Blake kicked his shot wide.
