Two time defending champions Clarendon College started the defence of their ISSA daCosta Cup in wining fashion after beating Edwin Allen High 3-2 in the opening Zone E game at Jamaica College on Friday.
Christopher Hull scored twice in the first half for Clarendon College who had to come from behind after Edwin Allen took an early lead through Ackeem Mullings but trailed at half time.
Mullings gave Edwin Allen the lead in the ninth minute after a brilliant counter attack, getting a pass form the left side, ran past a defender before beating Clarendon College’s goalkeeper Jameil Vassell.
The goal spurred the champions into action as they roared back with two goals from Hull whose left footed shot from just outside the penalty area, deflected off an Edwin Allen defender and lodged in the goal.
Hull was well placed late in the first half to head home his second goal of the day and give Clarendon College the lead and Jaheim Rose added a third in first half extra time as Clarendon College padded their lead to 3-1.
Edwin Allen’s captain Demario Ferron missed a golden chance to cut the deficit to one goal but his penalty kick was brilliantly saved by Vassell for a corner.
Ricardo Henry who was a late second half substitute pulled one back for Edwin Allen scoring in time added in second half.
