Holders Glenmuir High breezed into the final of the ISSA/Wata Champions Cup after blitzing first-time semi-finalists Ocho Rios High 5-1 at the national stadium on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
After battling their way past Kingston College 2-1 in the previous round, Glenmuir High, which will be seeking to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions Cups, rallied from a goal down to completely overwhelm Ocho Rios High.
This was the second meeting between the teams this season, with Glenmuir High winning 3-0 in the daCosta Cup round of 16.
Kaniel Brown gave Ocho Rios High the lead in the 21st minute when he beat the Glenmuir High goalkeeper Justin Murray just outside the 18-yard box with a left-footed shot.
It took Glenmuir High 19 minutes to respond when Orel Miller pulled them level with a shot that beat goalkeeper Maleek Martin at his left post.
A minute later, Glenmuir High took over the lead when Dunstin Cohen headed a cross from the right side past Martin.
It was one-way traffic in the second half as Glenmuir ran riot. Ronaldo Campbell who was subbed on at the start of the second half, headed the third goal in the 64th minute, Oraine Watson scored his 33rd goal of the season in the 69th minute, and Nyron Allen, another substitute, scored the fifth goal in the 71st minute, beating Marin at the top of the 18 yards box and watched as two Ocho Rios defenders just failed to stop the ball as it rolled across the goal line.
