Green Pond High moved in first place in Zone A of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup on Friday after they blanked Herbert Morrison Technical 2-0 in their first round game played in Montego Bay on Friday, September 20th, 2024.
Demar Thomas and Kevin Wright scored for Green Pond who gave up a 2-0 lead and had to settle for a 3-3 draw against St James High on Wednesday.
Green Pond are on eight points from four games, two more than Cornwall College who have played two games less and Maldon who beat Irwin High 3-0 on Friday.
Kenroy Thorpe scored a double for Maldon High to extend Irwin High’s winless run, their worst start in years.
Christiana High took over the lead in Zone G, on goal-difference over Holmwood Tech after beating Bellefield High 7-0.
Christiana and Holmwood are both schools on 12 points but Holmwood have played a game less.
Black River also had a comfortable win, beating Godfrey Stewart High 5-0 while Browns Town beat Ferncourt High 4-0.
