Haile Selassie High has secured its spot in its first-ever schoolboy football final. The Payneland-based institution sets up a historic derby versus Tivoli Gardens High after a 1-0 victory against Wolmer’s Boys in the first semi-final of the Walker Cup. Jahwan Payne was the lone scorer as Haile Selassie put on a solid defensive performance to hold onto their lead.
Tivoli Gardens High clipped the favourites St. George’s College 1-0 through a header from Dwayne Johnson in the 26th minute of the first half. STGC pressed for an equalizer but the sturdy Tivoli defence stood its ground and hung on to book their place in the Walker Cup final.
The Walker Cup final will be held at Sabina Park on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 3:30 PM.
