Defending champions Kingston College and Clarendon College will meet in a repeat of the ISSA Champions Cup final from 2019 in Saturday’s semi-final of the 2021 edition after both scored slim wins in their quarter-final games on Wednesday, January 5th as the schoolboys’ football season resumed after a two-week break.
In the other semi-final 2014 champions, Jamaica College will meet Cinderella team Dinthill Technical after both also had won on Wednesday.
Both semi-finals will be played on Saturday at the stadium east complex and the winners’ will face-off in the final On Wednesday all four seeded teams won with only Dinthill Technical who up to then had not won a single Champions Cup game, won with ease, coming from behind to spank St Andrew Technical 5-1 in the first game played at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex.
Clarendon College also came from behind to beat Charlie Smith 2-1 at the stadium east after Jamaica College just managed to hold off Garvey Maceo High 1-0 while Kingston College also edged Mannings School 1-0.
Kingston College stayed on course for a third title after they edged Mannings School 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Ronardo Burgher.
Clarendon College made progress thanks to a 90th-minute penalty from Jaheim Rose in their 2-1 win.
Charlie Smith had taken the lead in the 35th minute when Anthony Gibbs converted from the penalty spot but Timar Dunn leveled for Clarendon College two minutes later.
Philando Wing scored Jamaica College’s goal after he beat the Garvey Maceo goal-keeper from the right flank in the 11th minute as Garvey Maceo was losing for the first time all season.
Despite conceding their first goal of the season, Dinthill Technical stayed unbeaten as they came back to win 5-1 led by a hat trick from Jaheim Thomas and goals from Ricardo Matthews and Shamier Hutchinson.
Leon Brown had given STATHS the lead in the 12th minute.
