The ISSA Schoolboy Football competition has been halted today September 28, 2024 due to the withdrawal of services by match officials.
With as many as 30 DaCosta Cup games scheduled for Saturday, September 28th, the match officials have chosen to take a stance against mistreatment and physical harassment by players and spectators. In what is deemed a “sickout,” the officials have withdrawn their services and have been engaged in numerous meetings with the competition organizers.
The outcry is for more secure working conditions, as they had to wait an hour for security after being attacked at a game. According to video evidence, match officials were physically assaulted after the final whistle.
