Revenge is best served cold, they say, and leaders Mt Pleasant FA served up a fair helping when they trounced Dunbeholden FC 4-0 in their JPL second-round game at Drax Hall on Sunday.

Theodore Whitmore-coached team atoned for their only blemish in the JPL so far after they were outscored 3-2 by the St Catherine side in the first round despite finishing the game with 10 players. To rub salt in their wounds, Mt Pleasant also missed a late penalty that would have seen them share the points and preserve their unbeaten record.

On Sunday, Mt Pleasant left nothing to chance as they won and improved to 37 points, extending their winning streak to seven games, MBU and Arnett Gardens who scored wins over Chapelton Maroons and Racing United respectively, are tied for second on 34 points.

Defending champions Cavalier, who led twice but were held 2-2 by Waterhouse, are on 28 points in fourth place, one more than Waterhouse. Portmore United is in sixth place with 24 points, four more than Tivoli Gardens.

Shaquille Bradford and Raheem Edwards continued their hot scoring run as they both got on the score sheet for Mt Pleasant.

Bradford opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his seventh of the season before Sue-Lae MaCalla added the second in the 28th minute. Edwards made the score 3-0 in the 56th minute, his sixth goal of the campaign, scoring in back-to-back games, while Kyle Ming added a fourth goal in the 66th minute.

Brian Brown scored a double to lead MBU to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Chapelton Maroons at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, his 10th goal of the season.

Chapelton Maroons, who were unbeaten in their last three games under new coach Jermaine Douglas, took the lead in the eighth minute when Damari Deacon scored a rebound after MBU’s goalkeeper Davonnie Burton saved a penalty taken by Leaunghn Williams.

Brown equalized in the 34th minute before giving his team the lead in the 52nd minute, scoring from close range from crosses.

At Ferdie Neita Park, Arnett Gardens left it late, scoring two goals in the final four minutes of regulation against Racing United, with Marlon Martin giving them the lead in the 86th minute before Fabian Reid returned from injury to kill off the game as a contest with a second goal in the first minute of time added.

Waterhouse FC came from behind twice to earn a point against Cavalier on Monday night at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Javaine Bryan came off the bench to score the tying goal in time added, the final kick of the game.

Jalmaro Calvin scored a brace for Cavalier to draw level on 10 goals with MBU’s Brown. Cavalier FC, which had been drawing back-to-back games and had drawn a third game in their last four outings, led 1-0 at halftime after Calvin scored in the 20th minute.

Andre Fletcher drew Waterhouse FC level a minute into the second half, in the 46th minute but Calvin restored Cavalier FC’s lead when he scored his 10th goal in the 53rd minute.

Brian, last season’s leading scorer who came in the 65th minute, grabbed a vital goal as time ran out, salvaging a point for Waterhouse FC.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Tivoli Gardens came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against Portmore United, who extended their winless run to seven games.

Romeo Guthrie gave Portmore United the lead after eight minutes, but Steve Clarke, a second-half substitute, scored for Tivoli Gardens in the 55th minute.

Peter McGregor got a double, and Molynes United scored three times in the first half to beat Harbour View 3-1 and avenge their first-round loss. They now have back-to-back wins after beating Vere United 5-0 last week.

McGregor scored a quick double in the 16th and 29th minutes, while Devone Davis added a third in the 42nd minute in a dominant display.

Oquassa Chong came off the bench to score a penalty in tine added time for Harbour View, who have lost their last four straight and are winless in their last eight games.

Vere United edged last-placed Humble Lion 1-0 at Effortville, with Robino Gordon scoring in the 87th minute. This snapped their two-game losing streak.
