Three schools have now won their first four games in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition after Rusea’s High and Manchester High joined Annotto Bay High after wins on Saturday.
Rusea’s High edged Frome Technical 1-0 in their big Zone B derby at the Collin Miller Sports Complex while Manchester High hammered Mt St Joseph College 6-0 in Mandeville.
On Friday, Annotto Bay was the first to get to four wins after beating St Mary Technical 2-1 in Zone I.
Deandre Brown’s goal was good enough for Rusea’s to beat end Frome Technical’s two games-winning start taking their streak to four games for
the first time since the 2018 season.
Rusea’s ended the game with just 10 players after Alaqa Logan was sent off after he was shown a second yellow card in the game.
Manchester High surged into the lead in Zone F after their win as Belair High’s game against May Day High was not played due to a waterlogged
field.
Central High, last year’s beaten finalists won their first game in style, hammering Porus High 16-0, after back-to-back losses to open the season.
Nathaniel Howe scored four times for Central High and James Gallimore scored three more.
Maggotty High hammered Roger Clarke 8-0 in their game that was shortened to 80 minutes after it was interrupted by lighting and DeCarteret College also scored eight against Cross Keys with Raheem Russell scoring a hat trick and Tyaine Lambert getting a double.
Ferncourt High and Knockalva Technical both returning after periods of absence, scored their first wins of the season; Ferncourt outscored Aabuthnott Gallimore High 5-2 while Knockalva beat Black River High 3-1 with goals from Nawayne Bennett, Geovanie Porter, and Rojay Brown.
Mannings School were also winners, blanking Grange Hill 3-0 as Kajaye Williams scored a double and Gregory Phillips scored the other.
