Seven of the 16 quarter-final spots in the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition have been taken after four more teams booked their spots on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
Former champions Frome Technical and Vere Technical are safely through as well as Manning School, Happy Grove High, and St Thomas Technical as they joined Garvey Maceo High and Dinthill Technical who had booked their spots earlier.
After Garvey Maceo who has now won six games on the trot, had booked their spot from Zone F earlier, Vere Technical grabbed the other qualifying spot on Wednesday after a 1-0 win over Old Harbour High, improving to 13 points.
Both spots from Zone B are now taken by Manning’s School and Frome Technical High after beating Green Pond High and Petersfield High respectively.
Jahmaro Hall led Manning’s School with two goals as they blanked Green Pond 4-0 and are now on 13 points with a game in hand and leading Frome Technical who got goals from Akeem Kangol, Fabion Forbes, Javel Clarke, and Tyrone Lindsay in their 4-1 win over Petersfield High 4-1.
Happy Grove booked their spot from Zone G after a 4-1 come from behind win over Port Antonio High thanks to braces from Alex Afflick and Tevonne Miller after Ashanti Higgins had given Port Antonio High the lead after 15 minutes.
St Thomas Technical’s 2-2 draw against Seaforth High was enough to get the second spot from Zone G as their nine points are good enough for the runner-up spot.
Garvey Maceo High meanwhile chalked up win number six with a 4- 0 beating of Foga Road High, Gregory Cousins led the way with a hat- trick while Derwin Dyer scored the other goal.
