Stellar Eltham stuns Hydel

Eltham High defeated last season beaten finalist Hydel High 2-0 in Manning Cup action.

Jevaughn Grant opened the scoring for the home team through a beautiful team goal, quick passes, and a scrumptious cross that was headed home in the 36th minute to send the home fans into a frenzy. It was a game of cat and mouse as Hydel chased an equalizer. They huffed and puffed but the Eltham defense stood firm and kept the door shut and the half ended in the home team’s favor.

The second half saw Eltham kick out the blocks like a horse at Caymanas Park and left nothing for Hydel to sniff at as they doubled their lead through Jemar Powis in the 53rd minute. Eltham High leads Zone A on 12 points and is yet to concede having scored 22 goals.

Other results on the day saw Wolmer’s Boys defeat Denham Town 5-1, St Jago High hammered St. Mary’s College 5-0 and Tivoli Gardens High made light work of Edith Dalton James in a 5-0 victory.
