ST JAMES, Jamaica — Jovan James scored twice in the first seven minutes of the game as St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) drubbed Garvey Maceo High 4-1 to lift the ISSA/Lime daCosta Cup title at the Montego Bay Sports Complex earlier today and complete their first ever rural football double.

STETHS who had already won the Ben Francis Knock-out also got goals from Khesanio Hall who snapped his three game scoreless run as well as Keano Williams who scored in time added on.

Milton Green’s 11th minute goal that made the scores 2-1 at the time was Garvey Maceo’s only success of the afternoon as they completed the game with just nine players after having defender Henrico Ricketts sent off in the 39th minute after he handled the ball deliberately while defender Tashane Campbell was unable to continue mid-way the second half after the team had already made three changes.

STETHS became the eighth school to win the daCosta Cup/Ben Francis KO double and it was the 14th time the feat was being achieved.

The five goals that were scored represented the highest scoring daCosta Cup finals since 2000 when Cornwall College beat Munro College 4-0 at Jarrett Park and was capped by STETHS coach Omar Wedderburn standing atop the team dug out with his arms spread wide as the final minutes ticked away.
This was the third straight year STETHS had made it to the final, losing in 2011 to Rusea’s High and last year to Glenmuir High, both by agonizing 1-0 margins.
