In a press release from ISSA, the governing body of high school sports in Jamaica. The following teams Aabuthnott Gallimore, zone I, Annotto Bay, zone L and Winston Jones High of zone M.
No reason was given for their withdrawal.
Five teams will now make up Zone I, L and M respectively.
Zone I – Browns Town, Marcus Garvey, Ocho Rios, Steer Town and York Castle.
Zone L – Fair Prospect, Happy Grove, Horace Clarke, Port Antonio and Titchfield.
Zone M – Bellfield, Denbigh, Foga Road, Glenmuir and Porus.
All three teams are removed from the Jamaican Schoolboyfootball DaCosta Cup database for the 2017 campaign and our schedule has been updated to reflect these missing teams.
The 2017 Football season will open on Saturday, September 9, 2017 with a total of 39 scheduled games between both the Manning and DaCosta Cup tournaments.
Official opening ceremony will be held at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, where defending Manning Cup champions Jamaica College will take on St. Andrew Technical High (STATHS) at 4pm. Then 2016 DaCosta Cup champions Cornwall College will do battle with Green Pond High at 6:15 pm.
